Mineral Makeup FAQ’s

How do minerals provide natural sun protection?

The key ingredients that assist with sun protection are; Titanium

Dioxide and Zinc Oxide. These two minerals reflect the sun’s rays

from the skin providing a physical broad-spectrum block.

                   UVA & UVB Rays

What is the difference between UVA & UVB (ultraviolet) light wavelengths

and will a sunscreen protect me from both?

The sun’s rays consist of two types of harmful rays- UVA rays & UVB rays.

The UVB rays are the sun’s burning rays (which are blocked by glass) and are

the primary cause of sunburn and skin cancer. UVA rays (which pass

through glass) penetrate deeper into the dermis, or base layer of the skin.

They also contribute to sunburns and skin cancer as well as increased

ageing of the skin. Sunscreens block ultraviolet radiation and reduce

sunburn and other damages to the skin, leading to a lower risk of skin

cancers. Only the best sunscreens available block both UVA & UVB radiation.

A physical block is more beneficial when it comes to sun protection as

opposed to a chemical compound that absorbs UV light.
