About what happened once to the typical Javanese profes
sional artist cum folkpriest, the dalang of the wayangplay, in
connection with the court we are not do sure. A certain tersion
seems to have prevailed in the beginning of this century, but not
for very long. In 1928 a meeting appearts to have taken place
between the aristocratic laedership and a representative dalang,
resulting in a smoothening of the dalang's role at court evert
since, this led to the progress of the development of the Yogya
karta courstyle for shadow performances. This kind of wayang
was very restricted to serving the no billity and it was very much
unlike the general Central Javanese proceedings in the wayang
kulit performances. Even the Court of the PRince Mangku Ne
gara in Surakarta was influenced by it.
As of the nineteenth century the Y ogyanese wayang
experts and the who used to promote all kinds of wayang wong
playas, had somewhat relied on the artistic Mangku Negaran
initiative, For the development of the "Langen plays, they had
