Funding: Why we need it Coaching – Improving our players skills and enjoyment
The current programme has demonstrated the benefits of high-quality coaching for player development and engagement. Continuing to support our coaches is the highest priority for our funding programme, it is how we develop players so they enjoy their hockey and continue to play!
Youth Grade - Our future
Ten years ago we started our summer youth programme. Since then ABC has doubled in size - this isn’t a coincidence! Summer youth hockey isn’t a high-performance programme, it’s focus is more about participation, having fun and learning new skills through sport and transitioning from school to club hockey.
Tertiary Support – Reaching their potential
Hockey is not a cheap sport to play! Equipment and turf hire costs are expensive, and this takes its toll when our youth players leave school and go to University. So to help keep our students playing, we would like to offer a modest discount to our tertiary students for their fees. Given the number of tertiary students we have playing a meaningful discount becomes expensive so this is a vital area for your sponsorship funding.
Premier Players – Our high-performance athletes
Our Premier Men's and Women's sides have additional training and hockey commitments, which inevitably increases their fees. These are the individuals with the best chance for selection to the NZ Black Sticks.
These players are often in tertiary education or on professional development programmes, and will almost certainly have additional representative hockey costs as well. Sponsorship support here is again vital to help these HP athletes cover their extra costs and keep them playing at the highest level.
