Smack Down With Talia Iris
BSA (Bermuda Sanshou Association) recently took 5
Bermudian Athletes to Buenos Aries, Argentina to compete
in the 12th PanAmerican Wushu Championships. Talia Iris
and two other members of BSA took part in a two day
judging course in preparation for becoming a corner
judge/center referee. At the moment I’m not competing as
an athlete due to recovering from a few injuries. I have taken
on the task of learning about being a corner judge and also
learning about being a center referee for Sanda bouts. Talia
has had the opportunity to referee and be a judge for a few
local matches here on the island. Talia also had the
opportunity to be center referee and corner judge at a
tournament BSA participated in Barbados in April of this
year. This hands on experience has helped me understand
the rules better being a former Athlete. This hands on
experience is also helping me work towards becoming a
certified judge for the International Wushu Federation.
Sky High With Jaime Moncayo
Do you have a bucket list? Jaime sure
does. After postponing jumping out of a
plane over and over, he finally took the
dive (no pun intended); thanks to his
girlfriend, he was able to cross this one
off his bucket list.
Here's what Jaime had to say;
The experience is amazing, it's the first of
this kind for me but, as soon as I landed, I
wanted to do it again and I will scheduled
a new jump for December, this time not
landing on the ground but a water
landing in the Caribbean.
