On top of this, we were awarded, for a second year in a row, ‘2018 Company of the Year in
the Latin American Carrier of Carrier Services Market’ by Frost & Sullivan.
Lots of things happened along the way, but 2 major undertakings stand out: one is the start of
the deployment of our new subsea cable to Argentina, in partnership with Facebook. Named
‘Malbec’ after the renowned Argentinian wine, this new 2,500 km submarine cable will link
the Brazilian cities of Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo to Buenos Aires. When completed in
2020, it will be the first new submarine cable route to reach the Argentinian coast since
2001.

The other major accomplishment was the establishment of a new central interconnection
point at our Fortaleza CLS, an ‘Internet Exchange Point (IXP)’, in partnership with the
Brazilian Network Information Center (NIC.br). This IXP, already in operations, allows the
exchange of traffic among the northeastern regional ISPs with content providers and with
the rest of the world. This new facility is Brazil’s second most important interconnection
point after the São Paulo IXP.

Not to mention our outstanding day to day activities that give our clients the control and
connectivity they need to operate and expand into new markets successfully, always keeping
our customers at the top of our minds, and putting their needs first in guiding our projects.
