Sing your mantra Affirmations are important, like
reminding yourself that you are beautiful inside and out.
Come up with your own similar self-assurances – they’re
very effective in keeping a positive outlook.
Game plan Have a timetable or schedule written up for
your wedding day preparations, that way you’ll know
exactly what has to be done and when. Make copies for
everyone else so you’re all singing from the same hymn
sheet. Remember to schedule in some downtime for a
long relaxing bath with essential oils like lavender and
chamomile and soothing cups of herbal tea.
Cry if you want to It is your party so you’re welcome to
shed a tear or two. Crying can actually help relieve some
of the stress, just make sure you’re wearing waterproof
mascara and have tissues handy.
Take your time It’s your special day so don’t rush; the
bride is always late for the ceremony anyway (although
you don’t want to keep your man waiting too long, he may
think you’ve got cold feet). Composure is everything so
make sure you don’t panic and remember to take the time
to enjoy the day. Take in the various special moments like
your kiss at the alter and your first dance.
Breath It may sound obvious but most brides get so
caught up in the moment that they almost forget to
breath. Taking deep breaths into the very depths of your
stomach helps you relax - you’ll especially need to focus
on breathing during your vows and your speech at the
reception.
Bag of tricks Ensure your wedding purse has all the
necessary bits you’ll need like lipstick, gloss, perfume,
tissues, breath-mints and even pain killers for any
unforeseen aches and pains – better forearmed as they say.
