O Gentlest Heart of Jesus Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi

O’ gentlest heart of Jesus, Lord, make me an instrument
Ever present in the Blessed Sacrament, of your peace.
Ever consumed with burning love, Where there is hatred,
For the poor captive souls, let me show love;
Have mercy on the soul, where there is injury, pardon;
for thy departed servant. where there is doubt, faith;
Be not severe in Thy judgment, where there is despair, hope;
But let some drops of Thy Precious Blood, where there is darkness, light;
fall upon the devouring flames, and where there is sadness, joy.
and Thou O’ Merciful Saviour, O’Divine Master,
send Thy Angels to conduct, grant that I may not so much
Thy departed servant to a place, seek to be consoled
of refreshment light and peace. as to console;
Amen. to be understood
May the souls of all the faithful departed, as to understand;
Through the mercy of God, rest in peace. to be loved, as to love;
Amen. For it is in giving
Merciful Jesus grant eternal rest. that we receive;
it is in pardoning
that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are
born to eternal life.
Amen.
