SHORT STORY For the second straight season, Andrelton Simmons led Angels in hits (162), just second shortstop
in team history to lead the franchise in hits in consecutive seasons (164 hits in 2017)...Jim Fregosi did so on two
occasions (1964-65 and 1967-68).
UP-RISING Justin Upton set the franchise record for home runs by a left fielder (30), breaking Garret Anderson’s
(29) previous mark…Upton is the first Halo outfielder (other than Mike Trout) with a 30-homer campaign since Vlad
Guerrero in 2006 (33 HR).
WORTH THE WAIT After toiling in the minor leagues for 12 seasons, Francisco Arcia made his MLB debut July 26 vs.
Chicago White Sox (2 for 4, HR, 4 RBI)...Combined to drive in a new Major League record 10 RBI in first two career
games…Previous record belonged to Joe Cunningham (9 RBI in first two games with St. Louis in 1954)...Drove in six
RBI in second game to become first Angel with a six-RBI game since Adam Kennedy April 18, 2000 (8 RBI)...Became
first Halo to homer in first two big league games...On Sept. 20 at Oakland, Arcia became first player in MLB history to
catch (innings 1-7), pitch (innings 8-9) & homer (9th inning) in same game.
GOLD STANDARD Andrelton Simmons took home a Rawlings Gold Glove for the second straight season and fourth
time of career (2013 & 2014 with Braves & 2017 with Angels)…Just eighth player in MLB history to win multiple Gold
Gloves in each league - joins Omar Vizquel as only shortstops to do so...10th player to win award multiple times in

POWER & SPEED Shohei Ohtani (104 G) and Ronald Acuña Jr. of the Atlanta Braves (111 G) were the only MLB rookies
in 2018 to have 20 HRs & 10 stolen bases…Ohtani became just the third Angels’ rookie with 20 HRs & 10 SBs joining
