January – Inquire through your counselor about registering for Honors and Advanced Placement course placement.

you will have satisfied all college preparatory course requirements.
SOPHOMORE YEAR
October – Take Preliminary SAT 1 (PSAT): REASONING TEST.
February – Review college preparatory course sequence with your counselor and parents.
JUNIOR YEAR

COLLEGE PLANNING
Selective colleges and universities use specific academic criteria to evaluate applicants. Students
planning to attend college after high school, therefore, are encouraged to consider:
Strength of academic program—Many colleges require high school transcripts that show 4
years of Mathematics, 4 years of Social Studies, 4 years of Science, and/or 4 years of World
Language for applicants. These requirements exceed high school graduation requirements.
Therefore, the decision to take fewer academic courses can negatively impact one’s chances for
