After completing this module, you should be able to:
• Explain the nature and role of web marketing as a marketing channel as well as its
importance in the South African and global marketing environments.
• Explain the nature and role of advertising on the web as well as its importance in the
supporting the overall marketing strategy.
• Describe how search engines can be effectively utilised to generate site traffic in order
to optimise web marketing strategies.
• Formulate an integrated web-marketing and/or search engine marketing strategy for a
defined market segment in order to market an identified business or product effectively.
• Explain how the effectiveness of a web-based marketing campaign can be measured to ensure
that problems are identified and rectified.
