5 HOW TO STUDY ONLINE
5.1 What does it mean to study fully online?
Studying fully online modules differs from studying some of your other modules at Unisa.
• All your study material and learning activities for online modules are designed to be delivered online on or via myUnisa. This module is designed to be delivered entirely online.
• All of your assignments must be submitted online. This means that you do all your activities and submit all your assignments on myUnisa. In other words, you may NOT post your assignments to Unisa using the South African Post Office.
• All of the communication between you and the University happens online. Lecturers will communicate to you by e-mail, and using the Announcements, the Discussion Forums and other tools. You can also use all of these tools to ask questions and contact your lecturers (email is the recommended channel for communication with your lecturer).
5.2 The myUnisa tools you will use
All of the information about myUnisa tools is located on the myUnisa website for this module. The myUnisa learning management system is Unisa's online campus that will help you to communicate with your lecturers, with other students and with the administrative departments of Unisa – all through the computer and the internet.

Please note
We will use myUnisa increasingly to communicate with our students, so it is advisable that you register with this service as quickly as possible and visit myUnisa regularly to keep abreast of developments. Think about checking myUnisa for any communication from the lecturer/Department before contacting us telephonically, as your query may already have been answered on myUnisa.
However, we thought it was important to highlight the myUnisa tool that will be used for your formal assignments.
In this module, there is only one type of assessment using myUnisa tools:
• Assignments: The assignments are called written assignments. You have to type these
assignments in a Word document, save them as a non-protected PDF, and then submit them online in the same way as you will submit all the other assignments online. The assignments will be routed to your lecturer who will mark them.
5.3 Your myLife email address
Irrespective of whatever e-mail address you provided Unisa upon registration, Unisa will ONLY communicate with you using the myLife e-mail address which is based on your student number. This email address remains with you for life. You MUST use this email address to view any correspondence from Unisa, otherwise you will NOT receive any communication from Unisa. To register for the myLife email account, visit this web page: http://mylife.unisa.ac.za.
