The Campaign to
Project Description “The purpose of human life is to serve, to show compassion, and the
will to help others.”
Albert Schweitzer - Theologian, Physician, Medical Missionary
The Campaign to Thrive is the transformation of a 125,500 square foot former Home Depot into a regional
development center located at the intersection of Highways 301 and 64, less than five miles from Interstate 95,
in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. The Impact Center will become the largest regional facility of its kind dedicated
to the holistic development of people.
Economic vitality for our region requires three separate yet equal processes:
• the preparation of a skilled workforce
• the creation of new small businesses “...dedicated
• the attraction of expanding companies to the holistic development
Support industries related to these small businesses and
expanding companies will generate economic growth, of people.”
which in turn will create greater opportunities for the skilled
workforce and result in a greater quality of life.
Our community is in need of safe, accessible, and affordable places for children, families, and seniors to learn,
exercise, develop relationships, and be culturally inspired. The Impact Center is a shared use, or community use,
facility—the first of its kind in North Carolina. Diabetes, hypertension, obesity, chronic disease, illiteracy, academic
achievement, entrepreneurship, and food insecurity can all be traced back to a lack of access to appropriate
resources. We can address all of these issues through a partnership between public sector, private sector, and
faith-based institutions.
