Below the selection of themes in the Welcome page are several tabs:
» The Recent tab displays a list of documents you were working on
» The Pinned tab displays the documents you’ve pinned for easy access later. You can pin a document from the Recent tab by hovering over the file and clicking the Add to pinned icon (looks like a push pin)
» The Shared With Me tab displays documents others have shared with you.
» The Discover tab is powered by Office Delve, a service in Office 365 that uses machine-learning technology to serve up content that’s relevant to you based on your interactions with documents and people in Office 365. It’s important to note that what is displayed in the Discover tab varies from one user to another.
Creating a blank presentation
The fastest way to create a beautiful presentation to tell your story is to pick a theme from the Welcome page and customize it to fit your needs. If you click More Themes from the welcome page, you’ll find a host of templates to choose from. If none of the templates suits your fancy, don’t worry. You can start from a new blank presentation and let the built-in artificial intelligence and machine learning capa- bilities in Office 365 guide you through to a professional-looking presentation.
To create a new presentation:
1. ClickNewblankpresentationfromthethemeslist.
A new presentation opens in Editing Mode in the browser.
2. Enteratitleforyourpresentation.
In this example, we enter “Fostering a Diverse and Inclusive Workplace” in the
Click to Add Title box.
3. IntheClicktoAddSubtitlebox,enteryourname.
4. Right-clickinanopenspaceintheleftpanandselectNewSlide.
5. EnterFactsandFiguresforthetitle.
6. Clickthetextboxandenterafewbulletitems.
Your work is automatically saved when using PowerPoint Online. Keep it open; we will use this presentation again a little bit later in this chapter.
