EYES INC—CCEP Yearly Report for 2019-2020 — Version 0.3 June 22, 2020
9 Challenges Facing CCEP During Year 1 9.1 Startup: Delayed Recruitment Start
Even though the official grant year for the CCEP program began in March of 2019, the program was not approved to begin operations until September 2019. As such, the processes of community outreach, client recruitment, capacity building, recruitment of peer mentors, and treatment delivery were not able to begin prior to that date. This delay resulted in a drastically lower number of women being enrolled in the intervention than was expected. Despite said delay, the CCEP leadership team was able to develop a full suite of interventions (as described above in this document, as well as in the Evaluation Plan).
9.2 COVID-19
The ability of the CCEP project to recruit and house clients was halted due to the emergence of COVID-19. US citizens were asked to practice self-isolation and social distancing in March of 2020. At that time, CCEP was housing seven clients, and was actively recruiting throughout the community.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and in an attempt to safeguard participants in the event of another wave of infectious disease, Isaiah (through Virginia Kemp, Director of Operations) has implemented the following protocol:
Leaving the premises
• The front doors will be locked at all times to control who's coming in and out
o If a resident needs to leave the building, staff must call down to security to approve it
o Staff must have the resident sign in and out
o Residents can only leave the building for essential reasons such as;
§ medical and/or social service appointments § shopping for food or hygiene needs
§ work
o If the resident is going to a medical facility, they should request their temperature be read and printed so that they can present this info upon their return to Isaiah House
§ This will lessen the burden on staff to read everyone's temperature
