ACTIVITIES:
During the shelter-in-place mandate, clients were provided with games, crossword puzzles, books, scrapbooking materials and journals to partake in along with toys and coloring books for clients’ children.
EDUCATION:
Hygiene education was provided and hand washing sessions were conducted by staff. Clients were also educated on COVID-19 symptoms.
IOP SESSIONS/NA MEETING:
IOP sessions are conducted virtually, twice a week with clients in the conference room monitored by staff. Following social distancing guidelines, clients are seated 6ft. apart from each other during sessions. Random urine screenings are conducted two times a week onsite by a certified lab technician. During virtual IOP Sessions staff provided childcare to client’s children.
Due to the cancellation of in-house NA-Meetings, clients were provided with a list of virtual open group NA meetings to attend on a weekly basis.
MEDICAL CARE/SCREENINGS:
Clients are provided daily health checks as required by Zammeah Bivins-Gibson, Executive Director. Temperatures of the clients and their children are taken, recorded and observed to identify any fluctuations. Clients are asked how they feel, or if they have observed any changes in appetite or meal consumption as these can be associated with fevers.
All residents were issued health histories to identify those diagnosed with chronic heart, lung, respiratory and immune deficiency that place them at a higher risk of contracting the COVID-19 virus.
