It is Kismet for Hi Times Brittany Colt
Hi Times Brittany was a show and pleasure horse for most of her years at Steve and Kathleen Kemp’s Ballycroy Training Centre. It was unlikely that she would ever become a broodmare but fate saw that she would not only produce a ne colt but that getting pregnant would also save her life.
A Florida-bred by Two’s A Plenty
- Kay’s Hi Ruler (by Irish Ruler) Hi Times Brittany began her career as a racehorse nishing second in her rst start at two and winning the following year at Tampa Bay Downs. She arrived at Woodbine as a four year old and was retired after her two tries at a win in Ontario.
She had settled nicely in her home at
Ballycroy and it was later assumed that
a possible allergy to Lasix may have been the cause of her lack lustre efforts at the track.
Always a highly thought of mare Hi Times Brittany, or Cabaret (her new show name) was gracious and low key. She competed on the Ontario Trillium and A Circuits winning divisions and ribbons throughout the years.
Hip 113 Colt by Souper Speedy - Hi Times Brittany, by Two’s A Plenty
The late Dr. Colterjohn also thought highly of the mare whose pedigree page contained plenty of bold capital type on her dam side. In 2011, the rst year Philanthropist stood, they tried breeding her to his fertile new stallion however the mare did not take.
A few years later, the Kemps bought a stallion share to Souper Speedy and thought they would give the mare another try. Continued page 8
