in Sovereign Awards for Champion Three-Year-Old Colt and Horse of the Year.
Like his stablemate, Wando, Mo-
bil was a erce competitor on the racetrack for Gus Schickedanz and Keogh. A multiple stakes winner at two, Mobil earned early favourtism for the Queen’s Plate following wins in the Queenston and Plate Trial Stakes. After placing second to Wando in the Queen’s Plate, Mobil won two more stakes during his sophomore season: the grade 3 Toronto Cup Stakes and the Halton Stakes. As a four-year-old, Mobil parlayed wins in the Dominion Day and Vigil Stakes (both gr. 3) and Halton Stakes into a Sovereign Award as Champion Older Male. Mobil’s nal performance was a second
While Wando’s three-year-old campaign proved his most fruitful, his versatility shone throughout his career. A stakes winner each year from two
to four, Wando retired to stud at age ve with 11 wins (eight stakes wins) on dirt and turf from 6 furlongs to 1 1⁄2 miles and a total bankroll of over $2.5 million.
By leading sire Langfuhr out
of grade 2 stakes winner Kathie’s Colleen, Wando has a pedigree to com- pliment his racing talents. A multiple grade 1 winner himself, Langfuhr is the sire of six champions, four grade 1 winners and 53 stakes winners.
place nish to American champion Leroidesanimaux in the 2005 Atto Mile (gr. 1), capping a career in which he won or placed in 21 stakes (12 graded) from two to ve. Mobil won graded stakes from seven furlongs to 1 1⁄4 miles on dirt and turf for earnings of over $1.8 million from 29 starts.
Wando’s female family improves his promising sire prospects. By leading broodmare sire Woodman, Kathie’s Colleen is a half sister to grade 1 winner and sire Beau Genius. In addition to Wando, Kathie’s Colleen
is the dam of stakes winner Six Sexy Sisters.
A son of Langfuhr out of the Naskra mare Kinetigal, Mobil is a half brother to multiple stakes placed winner Kinkennie. An eye-catching horse himself, Mobil’s rst foals were quick to turn heads after hitting the ground in 2007.
“Wando has as good a pedigree as any stallion you would want to breed to, especially for his stud fee,” said Lauri Kenny, farm manager for Gus Schickedanz’s Schonberg Farm.
Standing at William Farish’s Lane’s End Farm in Kentucky for a fee of $5,000, Wando has been well received thus far in his stud career. His foals
“Mobil is a big boned, strong, good looking horse, and his offspring take after him,” Kenny said. “They look like mature horses already in July.”
Mobil will be represented by 28 yearlings at the Ontario sale. He is also the sire of hip number 188 in Alberta’s sale, and hip number 152 in British Columbia’s sale. Mobil has been standing at Wind elds Farm in Oshawa, Ontario for a fee of $5,000.

Mr. Jester boasts two of the most important credentials for many buyers in the auction market: a strong pedigree and two-year-old racing success.
As a two-year-old in 2003, Mr. Jester was one of the most promis- ing juveniles of his crop. In winning the Pioneer Stakes, the Kentucky
Cup Juvenile Stakes (G3) and the
$1 million Delta Jackpot Stakes, Mr. Jester defeated some of the best of
his generation, including eventual Grade 1 winners The Cliff’s Edge and Pomeroy. At three, Mr. Jester placed in the important Risen Star Stakes (G3). Continued Next Page -
