As of March 6, the Ontario Racing Commission's head office will move to Toronto's west end.
The ORC will move from its current location in downtown Toronto to a new office just east of the Lester B. Pearson International Airport.
Located near the intersection of 27 Highway and Dixon Road, and accessible from four major highways, the new office will be more accessible to licensees and associations doing business with the Commission. In making the move, the ORC will benefit from increased space that will be used to create a multi-purpose area, able to accommodate hearings, training seminars, meetings and joint ORC/Industry working sessions. At the same time, the move to new premises will be a cost savings, as compared to the existing location.
Effective Monday, March 6th 2006, the ORC Head Office will be located at: 10 Carlson Court, Suite 400, Toronto, Ontario, M9W 6L2. Phone: 416-213-0520.

Canadian born jockey, Gary Boulanger, is still recovering after a spill on the turf at Gulfstream Park in January 2005.
Due to an impending lawsuit, Gary himself was unable to comment on his current condition however a lawyer representing his case against Gulfstream Park commented that it is a miracle that Gary is alive stating that his injuries one year ago were life threatening.
Gary continues to recover at his home in Florida however he will never be able to ride again or even work around horses due to the severity of his head injury.
His lawyer says that he is a different Gary Boulanger than he was before the accident and he is doing well in the sense that he is alive and recovering however he gets quite depressed knowing that he cannot go back to riding.

In a memo sent out to Woodbine Trainers from Tom Cosgrove, Director of Thoroughbred Racing for Woodbine Entertainment Group, it was stated that any horses that have been stabled or raced in the state of Maryland since January 1, 2006 will not be allowed stabling privi- leges at Woodbine until further notice.
The policy is a result of the recent out- break of the equine herpes virus which has been confirmed at both racetracks in Maryland.
The Woodbine ban, which was made in consultation with ORC Veterinarian, Dr. J. Greg Taylor, will remain in effect until such time that the State of Maryland Department of Agriculture lifts their state’s quarantine status.
