And Baby Makes Four
Marilyn Cook is the proud owner of a filly by One Way Love, which she is planning to name Hope's First Love. The filly is the first foal out of her mare, Orientalspringhope and, with her arrival on March 9, she became the fourth living generation in the family owned by Marilyn.
At her farm in Loretto, Marilyn still owns the 34-year-old matriarchal mare, For All Us Mothers (by Florida Value), a mare she acquired in the late 1970s. For All Us Mothers produced April Snow (by Victorian Prince) in 1979. The 28 year old mare was the dam of Marilyn’s most successful horse, Orientalspringhope who was a Stakes winner and was multiple Stakes placed at Fort Erie. She placed in the top five in 45 of her starts and, after racing for seven seasons, Orientalspringhope was retired in 2005 with 9 wins and earnings of $350,000. This is the first foal for the eleven year old mare.

Mutual Ownership Opportunity:
Serendipity Farms owner John Whytall admits that there is nothing new about what he is offering, explaining that most breeders of thoroughbred horses offer some sort of ownership sharing at one time or another.
"It is a fun way to share the highs and lows of horseracing with other people," says John revealing one of the main benefits of shared ownership.
Another key aspect is that it is relatively inexpensive to get involved. "You can get in as low as $750 to as high as $1500. The choice is yours."
Clients of Serendipity Farms together have 5 mares being offered in the program. Each of the mares have been bred to John's stallion, Hubba Hubba, a son of the great stallion
Storm Cat. A well known Woodbine trainer and a veterinari- an have also committed to the program for the long term.
Shares can be purchased in 10% increments with a total of 10 shares being offered per mare. The share includes a percentage ownership of the mare as well as her resulting foal with the stud fee paid. Maintenance fees of $2 per day will also be charged per share.
"This is a terrific opportunity to get into racing and enjoy the friendships that develop through ownership sharing and the excitement of racing," said John with enthusiasm.
Hubba Hubba is a superbly bred son of Storm Cat out of the mare Pasiflin (ARG), who produced the twice Champion mare Paseana. A half sister to Hubba Hubba, Paseana is a Graded Stakes winner of more than $3 million.
The following are the mares being offered:
• Guilded Wanderer, by Guilded Time - Shebandowana, a half sister to the highly successful Wanna Runner.
• Slainte, by Breeders’ Cup winner Sheikh Albadou out of a Known Fact mare, Sound Reasoning.
• Take Me Dancing, by Take Me Out (a son of Cure The Blues) out of Lil’ol Gal, a stakes winning mare by Bold Laddie.
• Bambi’s Friend by El Prado out of Solemn Vows, by Nasty and Bold.
• Etoile D’Or by Queen’s Plate winner Golden Choice.
"It's an interesting program which will allow people to get in to racing, make friendships, and have fun!" encourages John.
