PSYCHOACTIVE SUBSTANCE – is a drug that affect
a person's central nervous system. Psychoactive
substances alter brain activity, and can change the
way a person thinks, feels or behaves.
PSYCHOANALYSIS – is used to refer to many
aspects of Freud’s work and research, including
Freudian therapy and the research methodology he
used to develop his theories. Freud relied heavily
upon his observations and case studies of his
patients when he formed his theory of personality
development.
PSYCHOLOGICAL CRIMINOLOGY – the field of
study that deals with the behavior and mental
processes of the criminal. It is focused on the
individual criminal behavior-how it is acquired,
evoked, maintained, and modified.
PSYCHOMETRICS – the measurement (typically via
questionnaires or inventories) of psychological
characteristics such as intelligence, personality and
creativity.
PSYCHOPATH – a mentally ill or unstable person who
is often feel inadequate. Psychopaths are
immature, lacking in social responsibility, and often
seeking immediate personal gratification in
criminal acts.
PSYCHOSIS – is any significant mental disorder
distinguished by a loss of contact with reality.
Prominent hallucinations and delusions may be
associated with psychosis.
