PROOF – the combination of all the evidence in
determining the guilt or innocence of a person
accused of a crime; accumulated evidence
sufficient to persuade the trial court.
PROPELLANT – explosives or combustible materials
containing within themselves all oxygen needed for
their combustion that burn but do not explode and
function by producing gas that produces explosion.
Examples are black powder, smokeless powder,
firecrackers, and pyrotechnics.
PROPERTY BOND – an undertaking constituted as a
lien on the real property given as security for the
amount of the bail.
PROPOSAL – partnership, when the person who has
decided to commit a felony proposes its execution
to some other person or persons.
PROSECUTE – to act or take legal proceedings
against a person or a group of person for a crime
that is being or has been investigated. To carry on
or conduct the legal procedures of bringing an
offender to justice.
PROSECUTION – the party who is prosecuting the
criminal case; or it may refer to the process of
taking or conducting legal proceeding for the
purpose of determining the guilt or innocence of a
person charged for committing a crime.
PROSPECTIVE – as a characteristic of criminal law,
states that a penal law cannot make an act
punishable in a manner in which it was not
punishable when committed.
