STEP 3 Continue  by  always  taking  the  last  cord  used  and  making  a
               Half Hitch in the direction opposite to the previous one.






















               STEP 4 Tighten each hitch as you go, and it will form a pattern similar
               to a Three-Strand Braid along its length.





















                  Coxcombings  are  generally  made  as  protective  coverings  or  over
               handles or rails to provide a better grip. Other “whippings” to protect
               rope ends are shown in Appendix A.
