cross-border M&A, capital markets and corporate advisory
matters.
He is also co-head and one of the architects of the

and I am confident that Tom will do a tremendous job.”

As the second most senior cleric in the Church of England

spoken out against social inequality. In a famous live
interview with Andrew Marr in 2007, he cut up his dog collar
in protest against Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe.
During this summer’s General Election he campaigned
alongside Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby over the
need to address poverty, education, housing and health.
Uganda-born Dr Sentamu graduated in law from Makerere
University, Kampala, and practised at the Bar and at the
Bench before coming to the UK in 1974 after falling foul of
Idi Amin.
He read theology at Selwyn College, Cambridge where
he gained a Masters Degree and a Doctorate. He trained
for ordination at Ridley Hall, Cambridge, then part of the
Cambridge Federation of Theological Colleges and was
ordained in 1979.
After serving in several parishes, predominantly in south
London, throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, he was
consecrated as the Bishop for Stepney in 1996. In 2005 he
was appointed Archbishop of York. He is Primate of England
and Metropolitan, a member of the House of Lords and a
