NEW Dr Anne-Marie Imafidon
2020
MBE
CEO and co-founder, STEMettes
Anne-Marie Imafidon is what most people would dub a
‘prodigy’. Passing maths and ICT GCSEs at the age of 10,
just one year later she became the youngest girl ever to pass
A-level computing; and she was just 20 when she received
her Master’s degree in Mathematics and Computer Science
from Oxford.
After brief stints working with Goldman Sachs, Hewlett-
Packard and Deutsche Bank, in 2013 – at the tender age of 23
– she co-founded the STEMettes, an award-winning social
initiative dedicated to inspiring and promoting the next
generation of young women in STEM sectors.
STEMettes runs panel sessions and hackathons
supporting girls and young women who are considering a
STEM career. Since its inception it has exposed more than
40,000 young people across Europe to the opportunities
afforded by STEM.

giving schoolgirls the chance to run their own STEMettes
clubs at school. She also co-founded Outbox Incubator,
the world’s first tech incubator for teenage girls. This has
supported 115 young entrepreneurs to date.
Anne-Marie has been named one of Forbes’ Top 50 Global
Women in Tech and an Elle magazine ‘Disruptor’. She has
honorary doctorates from the Open University, Glasgow
Caledonian University, the University of Bristol and the
University of Kent as well as an Honorary Fellowship at
Keble College, Oxford. In 2013, she was named British
Computer Society Young IT Professional of the Year and
scooped the Prime Minister’s Points of Light community
achievement award. She was appointed an MBE in 2017.
