Happy 55 Wayne!
Most people would agree 55 years at one company is the definition of
loyalty. Just ask Wayne Slauter. “I am proud to have served Jewel-Osco all
these years and they have been good to me. Jewel-Osco is my life except
when I watch TV at night in my recliner and fall asleep for a couple of
hours. My wife wakes me up and we go to bed.”
Wayne started with the company when he was 16 and by 21 was named
Farmstand Manager at the former Jewel-Osco on Cermak in Cicero.
“My next store was the old Stickney store were I was named “Produce
Manager of the year” and received a 13-inch color TV. Then I was
transferred to the Jewel Grand Bizarre at 1710 North Kostner. I was a
career Farmstand Manager at that point.”
The friends he has made in the more five decades is just one of the
elements of the job he loves to talk about. Additionally “I met my wife Liz
of 41 years at the Jewel Grand Bizarre which was the best day of my life.”
Wayne’s advice to new hires? “Come to work with a positive attitude and
work hard and there is no limit how far you can advance in the company. Wayne Slauter
Hard work is always rewarded.” Transportation

Wayne and his wife have three grown children and five grandchildren.
Their hobbies include travel and hanging out with friends they’ve made at Jewel-Osco.
“My wife Liz always has her bags packed for a vacation. I am on Face Book before and after
Work, playing games if you want to call that a hobby.”
