Happy 50 Bob!
th
Bob Johnson has some straightforward advice for new hires. “Listen,
stay focused, help customers, stay friendly and learn the job!”
After 50 years of loyalty and service to Jewel-Osco Bob knows a few
things about the grocery industry, beginning with being hired as a
full-time grocery clerk. “When I was hired, we had sponsors and my
sponsor helped me sign for my first car. When I worked in Wilmette,
we went charter fishing and I caught a 32 lb. salmon followed by a
BBQ at Gibson Park. We had good times while we worked together
and got the job done perfectly.”
Bob has worked in Arlington Heights, Palatine, Skokie, Wilmette,
Evanston, Chicago and admits it’s different now. “It’s all computers &
cell phones and no one wants to be perfect.”
He has four brothers and two sisters and says family is everything.
“The promise I made to my Mom is taking care of my family. We do
everything together!”
