Salad season has commenced! Looking for new ways to liven up your salad? Homemade dressing is fun and versatile. With some simple
pantry staples and some fresh ingredients, you will have a delicious salad dressing in the matter of minutes.
Classic Vinegar and Oil: Combine equal parts of your favorite vinegar such as balsamic, red wine, or apple cider with a heart healthy oil such
as canola or olive oil. Mix in your favorite fresh or dried herbs to pack on the flavor. Add in 1-2 tablespoons of Dijon mustard to bind all the
flavors together.
Creamy and Guilt Free: Plain greek yogurt is a great base to a creamy dressing. Using plain greek yogurt will boost up the protein in your meal
while lowering calories and saturated fat when compared to traditional creamy dressings. Combine equal parts of yogurt with tangy low-fat
buttermilk and dried spices such as onion powder, garlic powder along with fresh chives for a new take on a traditional ranch dressing.
Subtle Sweetness: Pomegranate juice as the base to a salad dressing? Yes, please! Enjoy the benefits of pomegranates all year long with POM
Wonderful 100% Pomegranate Juice. Packed with polyphenols (antioxidants), pomegranate juice is also low in fat, and an excellent source of
vitamins C and K. POM Pomegranate juice is little sweet and a little tart, but pairs beautifully in a salad or as a marinade. See the POM Honey
Vinaigrette recipe below.
