Message from the Minister of Business
t is my pleasure to contribute in this way to the Guyana Manufacturing and Services
Association’s (GM&SA) 2017 Annual report which serves to highlight the significant
Iachievements of the GM&SA in the past year.
I wish to offer my congratulations to the Executive of the GM&SA on all of its
achievements and to highlight the Uncapped Agro processors exhibition and food fair
that took place in October 2017.
The Ministry of Business was pleased to have partnered with the GM&SA to host
this inaugural event which sought to highlight the importance of agro processing in
Guyana and to raise awareness for locally produced goods. The feedback received
have generally been positive and I look forward to continuing engagements with the
GM&SA to channel the momentum from this event into other areas of cooperation.
I am particularly heartened by the willingness of the private sector to sit with
Government to pursue national economic development.
In that regard, I am encouraged by the positive outcome from the initial Ministerial
roundtable discussion on forestry and wood processing, between Representatives
of the GMSA and several Ministers of the Government. This public-private dialogue
mechanism is one of the ways which we can foster competitiveness of our economy
and one which we see value in pursuing.
Hon. Dominic Gaskin
Minister of Business The Ministry of Business remains committed to working with the GM&SA and other
Government of Guyana Private Sector bodies to advance business development in Guyana.
On behalf of the Ministry of Business I wish the Guyana Manufacturing and Services
Association a very productive 2018.
