We envision Curacao as a place where people are happy, enjoy abundance and safety, while

we prosper beyond our wildest dreams.

In the past year we saw many positive developments and initiatives:
I’m going to mention a couple that stood out, but I’m sure that there are more to mention
and my sincerest apologies for missing those …
Please feel free to clap your hands and applaud these great initiatives that, even though
with the serious uncertainties that lie ahead of us, will positively help us set the stage for
the next year!
I want to mention:
• Corendon and its development of the holiday beach area,

• The arrival of Damen shipyards and their recent use of the floating docks,
• The recently announced Coral Cliff project (by fam. Vogels & van Alstede) “samen
schudden aan de boom” .. great quote(AND NO RED TAPE experienced!) applause pls !!!
• Positive developments properties in Curacao,
• EOP changes to allow 20% of land development, including Oostpunt zoning change,
• The instatement by national decree of the Red Tape commission working hard to
eliminate unnecessary burocracy for economic licenses that will make Curacao more
attractive for new businesses ….
• Launch of the ‘Think to Do’ think thank, that will help our policy makers make informed

decisions based on research and actual data.
• Changes in taxation (exclusion foreign income) this will incentivize us to increase foreign
revenues and for companies to focus more on export,
• The expansion of the Tax holiday,
• Tax free shopping for our downtown area,
• Development of the Cliff project at Jan Thiel by Papagayo group,
• Initiatives and business opportunities underway for medicinal cannabis agriculture,
• Improvements and upgrade of the Marriott Resort by the ORCO Group,
• The Kick off of the development of the so called “urgency laws” (urgentie wetten) that will
provide our government the right room to speed-up economic decision making,

• New immigration incentives,
• The successful festivals, Curaçao North Sea Jazz , Int. Blues & Film, Velas Latino America,
• Acquisition of the floating storage to stabilize procurement of combustible by Curoil, “the
red Majestic”,
• Our central bank’s new views and openness on embracing innovation and technology,
• The collaboration /Mou between UoC en IBIS to develop Blockchain technology projects
by and with talented students,
• The launch of our first fully regulated digital assets company,

• The many held digital economy conferences events that create awareness for us all on this
topic,
