 Delay Gratification (3+) Time: VariesJ
Purpose: To help regulate emotions by learning to handle frustration.
Be A Part of Something (5+)
Time: Variable,weekly
Purpose: All the SEL skills can be strengthened when kids join teams, clubs or activities.
Instructions: Have your child choose a sport, activity or club to join. Help them follow through with the commitment and encourage their growth in the chosen activity. You can obviously join something earlier than 5, but at 5 your child can have more of a role choosing what they want to be a part of.

I hope you have found this activity book a helpful tool for teaching social emotional skills to your child. I hold high regard for the idea of remaining mindful at all times about what I am teaching my child. As your child’s first teacher, I encourage you to stay aware of your actions and their implications. However, don’t worry when you catch yourself teaching or modeling something other than what you wanted to teach. You’ve simply created an opportunity to teach and repair. Be kind to yourself and watch and enjoy your child flourish as he/she learns by your example.
     Instructions: When your child requests something or wants something, don’t rush to get it for
  them. Finish whatever you are doing or finish your conversation, and have them wait for what they want
 until you are ready. Don’t get them the snack they are requesting just yet. You get the ideaJ.
