 Culture Bank Pilot Project
 PREFACE
This Tool Kit is a portion of the “CultureBankKC Pilot” project by Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, funded by KauffmanX, a Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation program.
CultureBankKC Pilot’s purpose is to provide new insights to apply within the Kauffman’s PA/Civic Ecosystem, Eship and Opportunity Zone strategies.
Two enterprises are included in this initial CultureBankKC Pilot.
In Missouri, the focus is in Wendell Phillips Neighborhood with MovementKC/Neighbor Built (Ebony and Daniel Edwards). In Kansas, the entity is InterUrban ArtHouse (Nicole Emanuel and the Community Artists Cohort).
Among other outcomes, we are tasked with the creation of the Tool Kit, a shareable methodology for artist-driven, cross-sector collaborative community development.
Working with a network of artist entrepreneurs, the CultureBankKC Project is drafting a Tool Kit that models how we can increase
the networking, expertise and capacity needed to be responsive to larger-scale projects that drive civic engagement, community investment, and economic opportunity in the KC region.
The first iteration of the Tool Kit evolved simultaneously with 2020’s Covid-19 pandemic quarantine, Black Lives Matter social change and upcoming Presidential Election. Under ideal circumstances, a usable, relevant Tool Kit must be fluid and touched by many hands. So, we present this Tool Kit as an open invitation to continue the ongoing conversations that led to the formation of CultureBankKC. Consider the Tool Kit as malleable as the spectrum of communities who approach it to contribute.
Thank you Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, CultureBank, KauffmanX and the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.
