Page 4 - In Memory of Uncle Paul
P. 4
Paul’s family truly admire Paul’s passion for art and
his brother Jerome would always say, “how Paul got all
the gifts and all he got was a hard-head and two fist”.
Later Paul went from growing up on the East side of
Harlem, to making the West side his home. He had a
passion for Central Park. The free-spirited Paul lived
everyday with art in one hand and music in the other,
Central park is where he found his existence for living.
His Latin band Groupo Internacional drew in crowds as
they salsa their way into the heart of dancers – with
Paul on the congas, Central Park was never the same
again.
He played in clubs along the West side of New York
City, and on September 1988 in Club Broadway is
where he met the woman, he made his wife. Tamara
Hakiem- Allamby, “Had something special”, he said, A
Latin rhythm that no other woman had and since
1988 to his death they’ve been dancing together ever
since.
Uncle Paul was a very gentle, trusting soul he never let
anything phase him as long as he could air brush on
canvas and play his music.
