As for the cars I raced with Tommy Hitchcock, to buy and restore the two cars, is not an option, the Ferrari
would cost today around 40 million US dollars, and the Shelby Cobra is in the Museum of Boulder Colorado
and it is worth around 5 US million dollars. I am not sure it is a good idea to have the recently married
couples driving racing cars, without some professional assistance. One can easily buy reproductions of the
two types of cars we raced, that look exactly like our cars, but of course do not sound like our cars, for
around 100.000 dollars (I think), and put them in some place on exhibition, as decoration, but it is worth it?
If you are interested, but it has nothing to do with your project, in some other moment, I can tell you, the
story of my American grandfather Howard C. Marmon, whose race car the Marmon Wasp, won the first
Indianapolis 500, in 1911, and, at the same time, invented the review mirror of the automobile!

I am sure that the Vander Horsts, from what you have written to me, are making a
fantastic project very complementary with the trends and times of SLO. From what
you write me, Alan and I must be "soul brothers" as so many of our reactions and
tastes are the same. Of course, because of my age, I would be the older brother!
I am very happy to know, that your meeting with Genine went well. She is a real
treasure chest of knowledge, facts and anecdotes on us, and LLR.
Yes, I confirm to you that my grandfather Howard C. Marmon is credited with "
inventing" the rear-view mirror. They say, "necessity is the father of invention", and if
you are really interested, I will tell you the story in another mail including there are
cassettes on the Marmon Motor Car Company, the Marmon Wasp etc.

By the way, Ray Harroun, my grandfather’s engineer and driver won the first
Indianapolis 500 Mile Race in 1911!
