It all started in the Valley of Esporlas Majorca in 1965, when Pedro Salas, Marieta’s father, decided to
acquire three Arabian mares from Maria Paz Murga, and one mare from the Yeguada Militar, a daughter of _________________
the famous stallion Congo. They all came by boat, to Ses Rotes, his farm in Mallorca, Spain, where a _________________
breeding program of Andalusians had already been started. Marietta’s current farm Ses Planes, did not exist _________________
in her mind, “says Marieta Salas” now owner and breeder at Ses Planes Stud, a farm adjacent to her father’s.

This first purchase was by chance, it was not the beginning of a serious breeding program, only an entry
point to the beauty and the soul of the Arabian horse. _________________

In 1965 while visiting Maria Paz Murga’s stud farm, Pedro Salas fell in love with three mares, all by Orive, _________________
one of the most beautiful and refined stallions of the time. Due to family problems, Maria Paz was obliged to _________________
sell her horses and farm. Without a doubt, she was one of the best breeders of Spain, she produced the
stallion An Malik, by Galero, also Makor and Chavali, An Malik’s grandmother. The mares Pedro Salas _________________
purchased were Garbi, Gayada and Hababora. The best producer was Garbi, named Reserve National _________________
Champion, the first time shown, at the age of 17. All three mares were of excellent quality and very refined.
The next step was to find a good stallion for them. Visiting the Military Stud in Jerez de la Frontera we found _________________
Maquillo (Gandhy x Famula) one of the best available, but he died soon after, so we had to look for a _________________
replacement. We found Bambu (Maquillo x Ocalina), a very charismatic stallion, also bred by the Military _________________
Stud.

Only two of the mares got in foal by Bambu, Garbi and Hababora. On May 30th, 1973, Perico the manager
who had been working for the family for 51 years, and I spent the night in the foaling stall, waiting for Garbi
to give birth.
