La Lomita
At the beginning of 1978 Abha Hamir arrived in California, not at La Lomita, as it was still under construction,
but to Greengate Farms, the Stream’s Ranch, a few miles away. Bobby Hart started her training immediately
and, was delighted with her progress, since she was highly intelligent and learned quickly. Notes:
On her first halter show, the year of her arrival, she became Reserve Champion. In 1979 Abha Hamir was
presented in 13 shows becoming Champion in all of them, including the prestigious Scottsdale as well as the Abha Hamir name
Canadian and US Nationals. Such extraordinary success made American breeders interested in the Spanish
bloodlines, so during several years many Arabians were exported from Spain to the US. _________________
The Arabians bred at La Lomita were much appreciated in the US and continued to win at the shows. The _________________
breeding program in Majorca went on, with the addition of mares from the Yeguada Militar and other _________________
breeding farms, such as Zujaira by Garbo, Spanish National Champion Mare and her daughter Cinca by
Bambu, which were exported to La Lomita. _________________

Abha Hamir was bred to An Malik, Spanish National Champion in 1972 and produced Abha Djezireh a filly
and, bred to Abha Nejeb a son of Dandi II, foaled Abha Harim who was shown in the yearling Class at _________________
Scottsdale and became Top Ten. _________________
Soon thereafter, American trainer Gil Chavez suggested we take Abha Hamir back to the show ring; this time _________________
in English Pleasure. She left for Gil’s training stable at the beginning of 1982. In English Pleasure, she _________________
qualified for the US Nationals, but Gil decided to train her for driving. After only one week of training, she
was shown and won at the prestigious Santa Barbara show. _________________

Qualified for the US Nationals in both Pleasure Driving and English Pleasure, she was presented and made
the cut in both divisions, however, as both classes followed each other very closely, Gil chose the Pleasure _________________
Driving Class. Abha Hamir loved to be driven, and his decision proved to be a success as Hamir was crowned _________________
US. National Champion Pleasure Driving.

Nevertheless, Marieta and Pedro Salas decided to end the breeding program in the US, at the end of the 80’, _________________
