628 CHAPTER 22 It’s the Little Things That Matter
• A small container with at least one of every cable adapter Radio Shack carries. Suggestion: If Radio Shack or some other electronics store has an adapter that is not in the toolkit, buy it. Stocking them in the kit is priceless when needed.
• A small variety of video cables, both RCA and BNC types. It is important to have a variety of the standard lengths available at any electronics retail outlet.
• Make up a 100 ft video cable extension cord. It may be handy to have one that has a male RCA plug on one end and a female RCA plug on the other so that the adapters in the kit can be used for any changes in format.
• A small digital multimeter is essential. The biggest problem with the multimeter is power. Always keep spare batteries.
In addition to the above, carry a small toolbox with a variety of small hand tools, pliers, wire cutters, 6 inch (or metric equivalent) adjustable crescent wrench, multibit screwdriver, soldering iron, solder, a small roll of wire, Allen wrenches (both standard and metric), and virtually anything else that will fit in the box.
