Warm weather or cold, indoors or out, North Iowans have an abundance of recreation opportunities. These are some of the
activities locals take advantage of in their leisure time.
Bike Trails On the Ice
With a mix of off-road trails, bike lanes, and sharrows Mason City is home to the three-time National Junior Hockey
throughout the region, many North Iowans enjoy getting Champions, the North Iowa Bulls. Cheer them on in the “Barn”

your tent at Lime Creek Nature Center. McIntosh Woods State
Park also has a unique option to stay in Yurt cabins, with a
private dock on Clear Lake.
Lime Creek Nature Center
Lime Creek Nature Center offers year-round activities for the
entire family. More than 35,000 people of all ages visit the
Nature Center each year. Some take advantage of the 8+
miles of trails that are perfect for hiking, jogging, biking,
or skiing. The area is also listed as one of Iowa’s 77 “prime
wildlife watching locations,” perfect for bird enthusiasts. The
Winnebago River winds through the park, making it a prime
spot to fish for bass, walleye, northern pike, and more.
