East Park features 57.6 acres of parkland, right in the heart of
Mason City. You’ll often see families picnicking at one of the
five shelter houses or enjoying a Saturday evening movie at
the Historic Band Shell. Prairie Playground is a popular place
for kids, and it is located next to the beautifully restored 1912
Minneapolis & St. Louis Steam Locomotive – known around
town as the 457 “Rotary Cannonball.” There are several smaller
parks tucked into neighborhoods throughout Mason City and
Clear Lake, each with its own unique characteristics. Many
include playgrounds, shelters, trails, and access to fishing.
Golfers enjoy teeing off at several area courses, including
Highland Park Golf Course and the Mason City Country Club.

Water Fun
North Iowa features some of the most beautiful rivers and
lakes you’ve seen. Clear Lake stretches across 3,684 acres.
It is regarded as one of the top sailing lakes in the Midwest,
but it’s a perfect setting for all types of boating. Anglers will
enjoy catching walleye, yellow bass, and more year-round.
The Winnebago River weaves through the region, and it is
excellent for kayaking and canoeing, whether you’re a novice
or a seasoned pro. The Mason City Aquatic Center is a perfect
place to cool down on a hot day.
