OBMC’s mission is to transform all students into self-developing individuals by
• establishing the right relationship between the child and the adult;
• providing them with a prepared environment suitable for learning and creativity;
• equipping them with the skills necessary to become independent yet disciplined, productive yet embodying the Montessori spirit of excellence; and
• developing in them a heart for others, committed to the ideals of peace, social justice, and the cause of the child, who is the future of mankind.
1.2 Montessori Principles
The Montessori system of education is anchored on the following principles:
• The fundamental difference between the child and the adult is that the child is in a continual state of growth and development, whereas the adult has reached the norm of the species.
• In his development the child passes through different stages, which alternate with periods of transition or transformation. These stages of growth relate not only to the physical, mental, and social aspects of his development, but more importantly to the construction of his humanity.
• It is the task, therefore, of adults to act as collaborators in the building process of the child and to prepare the environment so he can live his life according to the laws of his development.
