opti ons, the County is expanding the number of
roadway miles with paved shoulders. Paved roadway
shoulders, up to 6 feet in some cases, provide
additi onal room and safety.
This year the County Roads Division is constructi ng over three miles of paved
shoulders on the following roads: Seabeck Highway, Hansville Road, Glenwood
Kitsap County Public Works Road, and two segments in Manchester. Segments of Suquamish Way, Sidney
614 Division St. MS-26 Road, Alaska Avenue, Anderson Hill Road and Carney Lake Road are in the design
Port Orchard, WA 98366 phase for future shoulder improvements.
Multi -purpose trail improvements are also on the horizon. This year the
design process on the 3/4 mile-long Markwick Trail – just north of Waaga Way
An APWA accredited agency (SR 303) – will begin. This project improves the existi ng Clear Creek Trail and
connects Silverdale Way to Ridgetop Blvd.
Another exciti ng project is the North Kitsap Heritage Park Trail. We are
working with park stewards and trail advocates to design the best form functi on
for this connector from White Horse Drive to West Kingston Road.
These roadway and trail improvements are integral to enhancing your
outdoor experience. Now it’s ti me to lace on some sneakers and enjoy!
