Quantitative Data Analysis
                                              Simply Explained Using SPSS

                                      Unit Exercises

               1. Given the following data of age and hours of sleep for five
                       individuals.
Age (X) Hours of Sleep (Y)
                                    37 8
                                    44 6.5
                                    46 7
                                    25 8
                                    12 9

               1. Descriptive Statistics: Determine the mean and standard
deviation for Age (X) and Hours of Sleep (Y).

               2. Draw a scatter plot; put the X variable (independent) on the
X-axis and the Y variable (dependent) on the Y-axis.

               3. Calculate the covariance (s xy) between Age (X) and Hours of
                       Sleep (Y).

               4. Calculate the Pearson r correlation.

               5. Interpret the form, direction, and strength of the
                       correlation.

               6. Following is the set of students’ entry test score and their
                       first semester GPA.
