Quantitative Data Analysis
                                              Simply Explained Using SPSS

               • This design is good as it allows us to measure change, did the
               treatment significantly increase over time.

               Dependent ‘t’-test
               • Questions answered:

               – Is one group mean significantly different from, significantly less
than, or significantly greater than another group mean, when the
two groups are matched or dependent on each other?

               – Is one group mean significantly different over time (pre/post test,
               before and after)?

               • Test for quantitative data

               Hypotheses

               Null Hypothesis: H 0 :μ 1 = μ 2or H 0 : μ 1 − μ 2 = 0

               Alternative Hypothesis: H 1 :μ 1 = μ 2 orH 1 : μ 1 − μ 2 ≠ 0

               Formula

                                                 ̅

                                               ( )
                                                √
                      ̅
Where the mean of the difference scores, SD is is the standard
deviation of the difference scores, n is the sample size.
