• This design is good as it allows us to measure change, did the
treatment significantly increase over time.
Dependent ‘t’-test
• Questions answered:
– Is one group mean significantly different from, significantly less
than, or significantly greater than another group mean, when the
two groups are matched or dependent on each other?
– Is one group mean significantly different over time (pre/post test,
before and after)?
• Test for quantitative data
Hypotheses
Null Hypothesis: H 0 :μ 1 = μ 2or H 0 : μ 1 − μ 2 = 0
Alternative Hypothesis: H 1 :μ 1 = μ 2 orH 1 : μ 1 − μ 2 ≠ 0
