Cranwell
Above: Our final selection of aircraft visiting Cranwell in the 1920s, begins with this rarity - an Avro 561 Andover. Only three of these aircraft (J7261-J7263), a transport version of the Aldershot bomber, were supplied for service with the RAF. The type was also used for ambulance trials and with a capacity of twelve passengers was also leased for trials with Imperial Airways.
Left: Probably the first amphibian to land at Cranwell, this Supermarine Seamew N212 paid a visit during 1928. 'We put out the anchor when finishing our taxying run', so said the caption!
