Left: 26th April 1929. The foundation stone for a new college building is laid by
Lady Maude Hoare, wife of the Secretary of State for Air, Sir Samuel Hoare.
Below left: By July 1931 work on the new college building was progressing apace. The mighty steel structure, designed to carry the weight of the dome, is seen here being assembled.
Below right: By late 1932 most of the external work had been completed on the new college hall, although scaffolding surrounds the tower.
