Top left: The official opening ceremony of the new college hall took place on 11th October 1934 and was performed by HRH The Prince of Wales, later King Edward VIII.
Top right: With the opening of the new college building and the provision of new student accommodation, the quality of cadet life improved.
Bottom: When the Armstrong Whitworth Atlas began to enter squadron service in 1927, it became the first type to have been designed from the outset as an army co-operation aircraft, superseding the veteran Bristol Fighter in that role. Production of the Atlas continued until 1933 and of the 449 aircraft constructed, 146 were built with dual controls and were supplied to the RAF as advanced trainers. Atlas Trainers began to replace the DH9A at Cranwell in 1930.
