Alabama Civil Rights Tour
Your students could spend a lifetime in Alabama studying the Civil Rights
Movement; however, in this 2 or 3 day trip, they are sure to experience enough of
the historic time period to deepen their understanding of both the Civil Rights
Movement, as well as the bigger fight for the fundamental rights of all human
beings. This trip begins in Montgomery and your students will get to bear witness
to many of the most important sites of the time period. A quick stop in Selma will
allow your students to see, firsthand, two iconic locations, including the site of
"Bloody Sunday". Day two engulfs your students in Birmingham's role in the fight
for Civil, and human, rights. This is a very fast moving, tightly packed trip; however,
because of the amount of history packed in, we think every stop is essential!
