What made you get into singing/songwriting?
I love creative writing and songwriting, for me it is a way to share my stories and what I’ve been through. I started sharing my music and talking about my songwriting with my friends and family when I was 22, but I’ve been writing music since I was 19, and taking voice lessons since I was 16. I wanted to find an art that was something I can have in my life forever, and with songwriting it’s fun because you get to put your own unique stamp in the world, whether you choose to share your music or you just keep it as a personal thing for yourself. It is very freeing to write music, personally it helps me to stop overthinking and get out of my head. I think it’s a great thing that people are able to take their art and share it with the world. You don’t have to be a celebrity to make a difference, you can still have a positive impact in this world and be a light, because even if you can inspire just one person, you can start a chain reaction. This is what I’m hoping to do by sharing my stories.
tell us about your most recent song?
My newest song is called “Insecure”, and it is about dealing with my insecurities and feeling trapped in them. When insecurities have a hold on you, it can damage the person you feel you are. There is the you in your head when you are overthinking, which while this head space is hidden from the outside world, can be very damaging when you are hurt and upset constantly. Sometimes it feels like there isn’t another way to deal with your insecurities besides saying “I’m going to be happy, I’m just going to choose to live in this moment and let go, even if I’m insecure or there isn’t a right answer to the situation, I’m going to try to live and have fun”. This song embodies this letting go, trying to embrace feeling happiness, living in the moment and feeling again, instead of being trapped by those insecurities in your head space and feeling like
you aren’t worthy of happiness or a good life. There is so much more to life than living in your head with those negative thoughts.
