How did you get involved in the Rococo photo shoot?
When planning the music video for my song “Step by Step”, I was looking for a makeup artist. I wasn’t sure exactly where to look for one, but the production company that was helping me, Ryan Ao, mentioned Maggie Green. After some communication through text and emails with Maggie, I decided to hire her. When she came to set she and we started talking, she was incredibly nice and is such an awesome person with a very fun personality. Since then we have kept in touch through social media. When she contacted me about being a part of the Rococo shoot, I was really excited because I love the clothing from that era and thought it was a really artistic direction for a photoshoot.
What did you think about your character?
When I had heard about the character and the Rococo shoot, it had reminded me of Katy Perry’s music video for her song “Hey Hey Hey”, which had some similar Rococo inspiration. In her video she looked very fierce, strong, and confident. I wanted to channel that sass and sophistication to try to portray something similar, because I know her and her confidence inspires a lot of women. I wanted the character to feel fierce and sexy in the dress, even though it was heavy. To almost find that balance of sexy fierceness and elegant poise.
What was your experience during the Rococo shoot?
I don’t know how most photo shoot set days typically go but this set/location was lovely and the crew were extremely professional. Amee is an amazing person, a wonderful photographer, and she has a way of capturing a person’s individual beauty on camera. It was wonderful to see all the other models in work mode, the work experience they all have really shines through on camera and they looked stunning. The talented women responsible for makeup, hair and wigs are an absolute blessing to be around. The makeup and hair artists have years of experience in the industry that proves they’re exceptionally talented. The wardrobe was gorgeous and fit the Rocco theme perfectly. Every model looked beautiful in their custom created costumes and I felt beautiful in my dress! I felt empowered and strong to embracing the Queen character.
