1. Early Access
Recognise a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) emergency and call 000.
Recognising the warning signs of SCA early is vital in treating it
successfully. The following signs are associated with the identification of an SCA incident:
• Not breathing
• Unresponsiveness
Note, an immediate call to 000 ensures that professional help is provided to the casualty as soon as possible, giving the casualty the best chance of survival.
2. Early CPR
Providing CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) keeps oxygenated blood flowing through the heart and brain (the body’s most vital organs). Early CPR maintains oxygen flow and increases the chances of survival. Remember, CPR should be started immediately!
