Debriefing
Where the incident has occurred in a workplace, a formal debriefing may be required.
It is also helpful to personally engage and go through a debriefing process with a professional counselor if you are not in a workplace to limit any impacts to you psychologically.
All information disclosed should be respectful of the casualty’s privacy and only provided on a need to know basis.
Key questions to consider during a debriefing:
• Were the organisational procedures followed for the incident response? If not, why not?
• Could the organisational procedures be refined/improved? If so, how?
• Was the required equipment available for use at the incident? Do any changes/updates need to be made (e.g. re-stow first aid kit)?
